White Collar Crimes - Bank Fraud, Tax Fraud, Securities Fraud, Commodities Fraud, Extortion, Conspiracy, Money Laundering and many more. These cases are usually filed in federal court, though not always, and many times an expert witness such as an accountant or a financial industry expert is needed to assist with the case. Measure 11 - Measure 11 is a state law that creates mandatory minimum sentences of 70 months or more for people convicted of person felony crimes such as Arson, Assault, Compelling Prostitution, Kidnapping, Murder, Rape, Robbery, Sex Abuse and other offenses. These are difficult cases with severe consequences. They require skill, experience and diligence along the proper amount of attention from the attorney in order to get a good result. Sex Offenses - Sex offenses include Rape, Sodomy, Sex Abuse, Sexual Penetration, Online Sexual Corruption of a Child, Child Pornography, Promoting or Compelling Prostitution, and other offenses. Many of these are Measure 11 crimes, and all carry potentially long sentences. In addition, a conviction for a sex offense requires the defendant to register as a sex offender. Expungments - Oregon law allows people who have been convicted of certain offenses to apply to the court to seal their arrest and conviction records. Most misdemeanors and lesser felonies can be expunged from the public record. In most cases, three years after the date of the conviction, the defendant can petition the court to have their records of arrest and conviction sealed and removed from the public files.
